Remembering “The Forgotten War” and Forgotten Medals from WWII

The Korean War has unfortunately been nicknamed “the Forgotten War,” and Korean War veterans have often been forgotten with it. One way to remember the Korean War and the members of the armed forces who were in it is to purchase Korean War watches. Watches and other memorabilia from the Korean
War are a way to keep not-too-distant history alive.

WWII Veteran Recently Presented with Belated Medal of Honor

A 94-year old WWII Veteran was recently given long-overdue medals which included the Prisoner of War Medal, Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Although the awards were received several decades after D-Day, the recognition was better late than never.

Personal Validation

The Korean War was not a simple or nonviolent. The war lacked a number of variables that are almost unanimously valued throughout United States military history. There were no widely publicized wrongdoings within the United States armed forces. There were no lasting stories of victory over a fascist regime. And, the United States armed forces were not victorious. However, the individuals that served in the Korean War did a phenomenal job serving their country. Investing in Korean War watches can be a form of remembrance and personal validation for those who served in the “Forgotten War.”

Family Heirlooms

Many eras are defined by war, and the Korean War was no exception. The Korean War ended in 1953, and the roaring fifties took off. Family members and future generations should be able to remember stories from veterans that served the United States during that time. Many people have stories to tell, and sadly their stories can fade over the decades. Wartime memorabilia is a way to keep the origins of history alive.

Heirlooms that Live With Stories

People have phenomenal stories. Heirlooms such as Korean War watches are a way to show others that the war was never forgotten. Instead of forgetting about the Korean War, let its memory live in a number of ways. Display wartime memories by wearing watches, and pass cherished heirlooms with their stories on to future generations.
